Garage-Media LLC, a new entrant in the outdoor media technology industry, and its affiliates, has announced a $30 million commitment for new Digital Outdoor projects with strategic partner A2aMEDIA. A2aMEDIA controls the U.S. and Canadian rights to the patented technology, Mediamesh, the world’s premier, transparent, architectural digital display technology. Mediamesh, comprised of stainless steel mesh with interwoven LED profiles, provides building owners and investors the unparalleled opportunity to broadcast messages in the most aesthetic and innovative way possible. Using 80% less power than conventional LED displays, Mediamesh also delivers a strong environmental message for its owners with the decreased energy costs.

With groundbreaking technology at their disposal, Garage-Media will focus on the purchase and capitalization of “hard to reach,” high-traffic locations. The first of these locations will be the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Times Square, New York City. This long-term aesthetic upgrade will cover approximately 6,000 square feet of the Port Authority’s facade on 8th Avenue and 42nd Street, with an additional 25,000 square feet of architectural lighting that will be color coordinated with its visual messaging. The media platform, which can provide up to 70% transparency, will be installed over the face of the terminal. The transparency allows easy passage of emissions through the display, thereby ensuring the safety of bus riders and Port Authority employees. The facade will display media content that is viewable from the sidewalk and street. The bold color and large format images will appear to “float” over the face of the terminal. Garage-Media’s Adam King commented, “This Port Authority project brings together the best of a public/private partnership. We are pleased to have the opportunity to launch our venture with A2aMEDIA in such a high profile location. It serves as a model for other locations around the country that have incredible potential, but haven’t had the benefit of A2aMEDIA’s new transparent digital technology.”

The Port Authority Bus Terminal Mediamesh Project was financed by Macquarie Equipment Finance, headquartered in Australia with U.S.-based operations, and is one of the world’s largest independent equipment lessors.

Johnsen, Fretty & Co. LLC, a Stamford, CT-based investment bank specializing in the out-of-home media industry, is advising Garage-Media on all funding-related matters.

Washington, DC (Vocus/PRWEB) January 10, 2011

Early next month, WPL Publishing will sponsor a webinar to help various professionals in the construction industry understand the advantages and disadvantages of guaranteed maximum price (GMP) contracts.

As the use of the GMP contract formats has proliferated, so have disputes. The nature of many of these disputes strongly suggests that the parties using them do not fully understand the differences between GMP contracts and the contracts that the users are accustomed to working under, or the risks that are inherent to this delivery system. The upcoming webinar is designed to help construction professionals better understand and address these issues. To register for the 90-minute event, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., visit http://tinyurl.com/33vkhyk.

The webinar will include an in-depth description and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of this contracting format, the four phases of work that are typical when working under a GMP format, the components of a GMP, and why it is important to fully understand how each is defined and the conditions that apply to the payment of each component. In addition, webinar speakers will advise attendees on what to do and what not to do during each of these phases, discuss administrative burdens placed on each of the parties when using this contracting format, and explain what a change is under a GMP contract and how it is different than changes under other contracts and how contractors may need to change their standard subcontracts when working on a GMP project.

Webinar speakers will explain the following facets of GMP:

The fundamental differences between GMP contracts and other contracts.
The components of the GMP and how each component is administered as work proceeds.
What the four phases of work typically are when working under a GMP format.
How the work done during each phase can affect the likelihood of success.
The definition of what a change is under a GMP contract.

Addressing webinar attendees will be Richard Burnham, a construction industry executive and attorney. He is director of Trauner Consulting Services Inc. and brings years of hands-on experience with all types of projects and a spectrum of contract delivery methods from various perspectives. His once served as vice president of a major international contractor whose $ 1 billion-plus annual revenue included major building and heavy construction projects for both public and private clients. He also served as a senior manager of a major engineering company, an advisor to public transportation agencies, and an expert witness regarding the proper administration and analysis of changes, delays, and damages. He once was as an adjunct professor at a highly regarded engineering college and has lectured on litigation avoidance, analysis of construction claims, and critical-path-method scheduling.

Following Richard’s presentation, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/33vkhyk.

WPL Publishing Co., Inc. produces three construction newsletters: Construction Claims Advisor (http://www.constructionclaims.com), Green Building Insider (http://www.greenbuildinginsider.com), and Construction Advisor Today (http://www.constructionadvisortoday.com). The company also hosts webinar series on topics relevant to the construction industry. WPL is on Twitter at CAT_Online.

Merseyside County, England (PRWEB) February 13, 2009

No Win No Fee Solicitors, a group of solicitors that charge no upfront fees, announces the launch of their new business website. Understanding that individuals who have been the brunt of an unfair situation should be able to have proper representation in court to present their claim, No Win No Fee Solicitors offers them the expertise to do just that.

Typically a no win no fee claim needs to be a claim where the victim is not at fault. There are many instances where this might occur, including events such as child injury, work-related injuries, injuries occurring on holidays, traffic accidents, head injuries, injuries that happen as a result of being a victim of a crime, tripping or falling accidents, industrial disease related cases, and accidents that result in fatality.

Once a no win no fee solicitor agrees to represent a claim in court, the claimant would ordinarily be expected to pay a fee to the solicitor for services rendered. Not so with the no win no fee scenario. The solicitor will work on the client’s behalf in order to prepare the case and then win the case in court. If the no win no fee solicitor does not win in court, the client does not owe any fees for the services performed. If the client does win, however, the solicitor will be due his or her normal fee plus a success fee for winning the case. This is a percentage of the normal fee up to one hundred percent.

Compensation is a critical issue to discuss with a solicitor before a case nears its court date. No win no fee compensation is handled to the client’s benefit with No Win No Fee Solicitors, who allow the claimant to keep all of the compensation awarded, and who will work diligently on the client’s behalf to gain maximum compensation for the claim. While other solicitors require credit agreements before taking on a case, with No Win No Fee Solicitors the credit agreements are waived. Working with clients throughout England, Scotland and Wales, and with head offices in North West England, No Win No Fee Solicitors offers professional service at a time when a personal injury victim might most need a solicitor looking out for his or her best interests.

AIG had contracts that went back years, promising bonuses. The federal government could have avoided AIG making these huge payments by simply letting them fail and go into bankruptcy. Why is the government now so upset that AIG is paying bonuses that were in contracts from years ago?

Best answer:

Answer by Killer Queen
You’re right. We need to stop taking the risk out of businesses. If we bailout every failure, there won’t be any incentive to succeed. If a company fails, they either need to revamp or go out of business. That is the way free enterprise works and it has worked well. This bailout mess is causing so many problems now but the long term effects will be immense.

What all different kinds of contracts do you have to sign in order to have your child in a day care? What policies do you & don’t you like? What policies do you wish they had?

Best answer:

Answer by wendy.balsam
the only thing i had to agree to was advance notice of no longer using their services (usually 30 days or 14 days.)

the only thing that i never liked about day care itself is that its just that…daycare…i wish someone would realize that there would be a lot of money to be made with evening care. most places close at 5-6pm. these days moms and dads have to work weird hours (7pm, 8pm, 9pm)

only other issue is the HUGE late fee’s they charge if you are late. i have seen places be as high as $ 5 per min! that’s why i took my daughter out of it this summer bc my boyfriend works at the court house down town and traffic was horrible. he almost got into car accidents just to get there in time so i didnt have to pay extra.

Network Contract Solutions, the leading contract management solutions provider, today announced that CEO Michael Berman will be attending and speaking at the North Carolina Bankers Association Management Team Conference. On October 24th, Berman will lead a breakout session for attendees entitled “Saving Money through Vendor Contract Management and Compliance.”

“I am honored to be invited to speak at this prestigious conference,” said Berman. “This is an opportunity for me to share with attendees our knowledge and expertise in the area of vendor risk management. My goal is to empower bankers and their associates by providing information on federal regulations, new risk assessment technology and best practices for vendor contract management.”

Vendor risk management continues to be a hot button topic for federal regulators.

“This breakout session will give attendees the tools that will allow them to save thousands in non-personnel operating expenses, administrative expenses, as well as reduce board of director and senior management liability,” said Mr. Berman. “Anyone who works with vendor contract management does not want to miss this.”
