San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2006

Employee communication experts agree that bad news should be delivered by organization leaders in a face-to-face forum. However, according to a recent survey conducted by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), only 37 percent of companies use face-to-face meetings with employees as their primary vehicle to communicate difficult news.

Based on the IABC survey, besides face-to-face meetings, the other vehicles used by organizations to deliver bad news to employees are e-mails (29%), letters or memos (12%), internal employee web sites (8%), teleconferences or videoconferences (6%), and company newsletters (3.5%). Experts stress the importance of face-to-face communication followed by additional materials such as web site FAQs, e-mail messages or intranet postings. For less sensitive news, employee publications or the company intranet may suffice.

In addition, the survey found that the most important element in maintaining employee engagement in a difficult situation is open and honest communication from top management. Open communication allows leaders to demonstrate that they understand the problem and are prepared to lead the company through it. More than half of the survey respondents agreed that spinning issue-related news is the worst thing a company can do. While most corporate leaders seem to understand this, 47 percent of the survey respondents said that their organizations did spin issues to some degree.

According to IABC’s vice president of chapter relations & development, Gretchen Hoover, who conducted the survey, “Organizations are realizing that, even in a crisis, good communication keeps employees engaged. Even though employees may not like the bad news, an honest, well-thought-out message combined with thorough preparation and a good communication plan will make complications easier to bear and keep the organization moving forward.”

The survey, which was sent to IABC members who specialize in employee communication, received 292 responses. More details on the survey findings appear in a recent issue of Communication World magazine. The article is available online at http://www.iabc.com/cw (member log-in required).

Reston, VA and St. Paul, MN (Vocus) November 9, 2010

AFrame Digital, Inc. and CMA announced today an alliance to integrate and market AFrame Digital’s MobileCare Monitor™ service through CMA to its healthcare clients seeking an enhanced personal healthcare monitoring tool.

CMA is an expert service provider of healthcare communication solutions working with healthcare facilities such as long-term care, clinical, and hospital settings.

“Our clients have been requesting a personal healthcare communications system for their patients,” says Mary Blackford, CMA director of sales and marketing. “We feel we have finally found the right technology through AFrame Digital. The company understands the real needs of the patient and the care provider.”

The AFrame Digital has developed a Personal Health Monitor™ – a non-intrusive wrist monitor similar to a sports watch – that represents the next generation in senior health care technology. The Personal Health Monitor and AFrame’s open wireless network records a user’s activity, impacts, and critical health data including weight, blood pressure, pulse and oxygenation levels. Changes in any one of these bodily functions can signal the need for immediate care. Additionally, concerned family members can be sent alerts and updates over mobile networks.

CMA realizes that each facility has its own set of distinct communication needs directly related to factors such as size, facility and floor layout, centralized or decentralized nursing stations, patient-focused care and other nursing styles. AFrame’s MobileCare Monitor service provides trending information and alerts to allow health care providers to properly treat seniors based on long-term data rather than one-time readings. “The ability to alert on changes in a user’s health eliminates the need to sift through data and reports. This enhanced communications tool allows medical personnel to determine the root causes of those changes faster,” says Blackford.

CMA is serving a growing clientele of seniors who want to live independently. However, one of the greatest fears is the risk of falling and not receiving help. AFrame removes that worry. If a senior falls, the system sends out an immediate signal to any one in the system. There is no need for a senior to press a button or pull an emergency cord that he or she may not have the ability to reach. “This system is cost-effective and focuses on wellness and prevention to keep people living independent and healthy,” says Blackford.

The AFrame Digital System is now being installed in CMA facilities across the Midwest.

AFrame Digital Inc., http://www.aframedigital.com, was founded in 2005 to research, design and manufacture non-intrusive, wireless sensor-based monitoring and situational awareness solutions for long-term care and occupational safety. AFrame has received support from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institutes of Health, and is working closely with two large military treatment facilities, Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), to develop models of injury and disease recovery for the bioinformatics analysis software portion of the system. The company’s MobileCare Monitor system and Personal Health Monitor received FDA clearance in 2009 for in-patient, outpatient and home care settings.

CMA, http://www.cma-ideacom.com, has over five decades of experience in providing healthcare communications tools and solutions for healthcare facilities in the Midwest. The company focuses on healthcare and patient care by working to provide technology solutions that allows healthcare professionals to do what they do best – providing quality care to their residents or patients.

Mill Creek, WA (PRWEB) April 14, 2010

In response to the nation’s depressed economy, Communication Resources Northwest (http://www.communication-resources.com) has made its nationally renowned Presentation Coaching available at a fraction of the cost to Architectural, Engineering, and Construction firms to help them win new work. “Winning the Short-List” is the secret weapon firms who have been short-listed for projects need to refine their critical interview skills and edge out the competition.

The state of the nation’s economy has created a deficit of available projects for those in the “building” industry. Firms must fiercely compete with one another to win what little work is available.

Clients who utilize Communication Resources’ Presentation Coaching Service win the projects they are interviewing for 75% of the time.

“Key to our winning strategy for the MN State Capitol project was leveraging critical research and interview coaching by Communication Resources. We have an extremely high success rate on projects when adding their expertise to our team early in the pursuit process. We just hope our competition never learns our secret weapon!” says Communication Resources Northwest client Jeff Callinan, LEED AP and Vice President of JE Dunn Construction.

The methodology showcased in the new training DVD, “Winning the Short-List” has helped teams from large and small firms win billions of dollars in new work across the nation.

Now, instead of spending thousands of dollars on customized interview coaching and consulting services, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors can drastically improve their chances of winning projects for just $ 350.00. In a tough economy, affordable training is a crucial part of survival for those in the building industry.

“Winning the Short-List” is a short instructional film that provides instruction, examples, and a sample full-length interview. It comes with participant’s workbooks that can be copied as many times as an office needs. The goal of the training DVD is to make interview design and development both easier and more successful for project teams.

Offering Presentation Coaching at a significant savings to firms in need, is just one part of CR’s commitment to helping the community. CR has a long-standing commitment to giving back. They have a corporate philosophy of donating their time and talents to a range of non-profit organizations.

Question by SweetPeach: What is the difference between a visual communications degree and a regular communications degree?
I also was wondering what can you do with bachelor degrees in these fields? Can a communications degree also be combined with sociology? And if so, which one is best to choose as your major and which one is better suitable for a minor? Thanks for reading and if you know some answers, I would like to hear back from you!

Best answer:

Answer by Lasey Puget
Visual Communications is basically the new term for graphic design, or it can be a more computer-centered version of graphic design when a university bases their graphic design program more in the fine arts. Visual Communications will require more hands-on training classes such as teaching you the Adobe suite, how to use digital cameras and camcorders, how to design web sites and the principles of visual design.

Communications is a study of communication in general and can encompass speech, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication and mass communication. Most of your classes in this field will be theoretical in nature but some programs may include Mass Communications training such as learning broadcast production or newspaper writing. Some schools have a separate Mass Communication or Journalism program and some put it all under Communications.

Sociology is a great compliment to any department in the field of Communication, as both deal with human interactions. In fact, when I went back to school to become an instructor and found that I had too many classes under my AA program to major in Communications, I decided to go with sociology to complete my BA. I would suggest it for you as a minor or even second major.

Communication is a relatively new and rapidly changing discipline and programs vary from school to school so I would go to the website of the school you are looking at and see what classes are offered under each program to get a sense of how they define Communication.

Give your answer to this question below!

Atlanta, GA (Vocus) December 1, 2010

Cypress Communications® announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®), a global, integrated marketing company, has named the company’s hosted unified communications solution, C4 IP®, as a recipient of its 2010 Unified Communications Excellence Award.

This is Cypress’’ 31st award for excellence and product innovation

“We are thrilled our C4 IP unified communications service continues to win awards, and thank TMC for their recognition,” said Frank Grillo, executive vice president of implementation, support and marketing at Cypress.

“Unified communications is truly helping people be more productive in their communications,” he continued. “People instinctively agnise that polar communications methods are best for polar purposes. Sometimes an IM or an email is best and for other communications only a phone put over will do. And looping them together in an easy-to-use platform creates enthusiastic efficiency. With C4 IP, we bring in these benefits to small-to-medium businesses.”

C4 IP is a hosted unified communications solution that enables small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to connect, communicate, collaborate and continue®. C4 IP delivers voice and data services and a powerful suite of collaboration tools that include Microsoft® Outlook integration, united messaging, real-time presence, file and desktop sharing, chat, and audio, video, and web conferencing

Cypress manages the solution from its expansive IP network down to the phone on each user’s desk. There’s no equipment to by, so firms can implement the solution with no upfront capital investment. C4 IP user’s labour everything—from Cypress’’ expertise to all the equipment they need—for a single monthly cost. And with C4 IP’s scalability, customers only pull in for what they draw and can scale services as business draws change

“Cypress Communications has proven its commitment to excellence while providing solutions in the UC marketplace. We are pleased to grant a 2010 Unified Communications Excellence Award to C4 IP,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “Congratulations to Cypress on inducting this award and we radiate forward to future innovations.”

Unified Communications Excellence Award winners are published in the October 2010 issue of Unified Communications magazine, http://www.uc-mag.com. Unified Communications magazine is cogitated to grooming readers on resorting wedded communications (UC) solutions
