Question by wizard101z: What security device that detect if there is a stolen item?
We recently open a bookstore. Its kinda big and we have 8 employees. But still we lost 9 books last week, it was stolen. I’m planning to buy a security device like what the department store uses. They put a detector right at the entrance. Then they put sensor to every item so that when item is taken outside with the sensor the detector will sound the alarm. What security device is that? How does it work?

They are security tags.
There are basically two types, the EA, which has a little plasic box with foil strips inside it, which vibrate and emit a harmonic when excited by an RF field, and the EM, which basically short circuit an RF field.
Either have a deactivation device at the checkout, the EA by demangatizing the foil strips so the RF fiels cannot affect them, and EM, which blows the RF circuit on the tag.
