HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (PRWEB) December 21, 2006
During this holiday season, Army.com, an online publisher based in Huntsville, Ala., has made giving back to the community a priority by supporting local initiatives to benefit military families and children of the community.
“This year we decided to do something for our audience besides the routine,” said Mark Van Dyke, president of Army.com. “Every day we provide our site visitors with valuable news, information and other products and services, but the holidays give us the opportunity to show how much we really appreciate the sacrifices of our service members and do something really special for our own community at the same time.
To demonstrate their commitment staff members of Army.com along with other business leaders in the Huntsville community are supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in their annual “Toys for Tots” campaign. Their support kicked off in November with a “Bikes or Bust” drive. Army.com also recently supported a U.S. Army National Guard “Family Readiness Group” Christmas party by donating door prizes and other materials to help raise funds in support of military families in the unit stationed in Athens, Ala.
“Everybody should try to do something like this during the holidays,” said Van Dyke. “We know our efforts aren’t unique, but if they were more common the need to help wouldn’t be so great.”
Van Dyke said people interested in donating to the local Huntsville Toys for Tots campaign may contact Gunnery Sgt. Ronald Williams at 256-213-9683 or via e-mail.
